Knowing the fabric, the process and the people who work with it is the starting point of every SILKinCOM collection.
Marco Dibenedetto is the founder of SILKinCOM. The project was born from the meeting between textile training, knowledge of the Como district and the desire to build a more direct relationship between product and customer. The Maison develops accessories and garments in silk, cashmere, wool, linen and cotton, declaring composition and care instructions in the individual product pages.
Textile training
Marco obtained his textile chemistry technician diploma at ITIS Setificio di Como in 1998. Technical training offers him the tools to read a fabric beyond its appearance: fibres, yarns, weaves, printing, dyeing and finishing. This expertise remains the reference with which he evaluates the materials, construction and performance of the collections.
The SILKinCOM idea
SILKinCOM chooses a direct-to-consumer model: it presents the collections through its website and maintains a direct dialogue with those who purchase. The objective is to make the characteristics of the product more readable - material, feel, dimensions, declared processes and care - without relying only on promotional language.
Work in the district
Marco coordinates the project from the operational headquarters of Cermenate and collaborates with professionals and specialized laboratories in the Como area. The Artisans page recounts some of these skills through the work of Paolo, a weaver, Adriano, a dyer, and Roberta, a garment maker. The actual processes and composition vary from product to product and are indicated in the relevant data sheets.
Selection and development
Each proposal starts from use: how a foulard should drape, how warmly a scarf should wrap, what balance is needed between lightness, comfort and resistance. From here the material, construction, color and finish are selected. The final check considers consistency of the fabric, quality of the making and presentation of the product.
Product culture
For SILKinCOM knowledge is part of the service. The Materials, Product Care and Textile Glossary pages explain useful terms, features and precautions without replacing the specific information on the label.
Journal and contacts
Marco signs the Journal SILKinCOM, dedicated to textile culture, the choice of fibers and the conscious use of accessories. Among the insights: History of silk in Como, How to recognize real silk and Pashmina and scarf: the differences. For editorial or professional inquiries: info@silkincom.com.
